Additional Freshman Application Requirements

In addition to submitting a complete application, freshman applicants must submit the following by the appropriate application deadline:

  1. Short answer: Inherent in the design disciplines the capacity to impact the world around us. What does the opportunity to develop such capacity mean to you and you approach to your college education? Please limit your response to 250-300 words.
  2. Please provide and upload three images total that demonstrate your creativity. Then, describe how the three images are representative of how you see creativity as a way to describe, reflect on or change the world. Please limit your response to 50-75 words. The three images may all be of one option type or varied amongst the two following options:

Additional Transfer Application Requirements

Transfer applications and portfolios are accepted only from students of architecture and interior design programs at other universities whose minimum transfer GPA is 3.25. The required portfolio will be evaluated with emphasis given to excellence in design, academic preparation, essays and other achievements. Course credit and placement in studio sequence is determined upon acceptance.

In addition to submitting a complete application, transfer applicants must submit the following by the appropriate application deadline:

  1. Submit an essay addressing Topic D. Essays & Short Answers
  2. Submit two letters of recommendation.

McCombs School of Business

The McCombs School of Business offers freshman admission only for the summer or fall semesters. Transfer admission is only offered for the fall semester. Applicants should apply as an “undeclared” major (Unspecified Business). Only after enrolling do business students pick a specific undergraduate major.

In addition to submitting a complete application, transfer applicants must submit proof of credit or in-progress work for the following business indicator courses by the appropriate deadline:

MATH 408/308M is not a required course, but is recommended for Science and Technology Management.

Honors Programs

Canfield Business Honors

Modeled after case-based MBA programs, the Canfield Business Honors Program’s small classes focus on discussion and presentation, group collaboration and analytic exercises—all in the interest of challenging business students to think outside the box. This honors program is also available for transfer students. Both freshman and transfer applicants may apply to this program.

Texas Honors Computer Science and Business (Texas CSB)

Texas CSB is a new integrated honors degree program between Canfield Business Honors and the Department of Computer Science. Students enjoy a small cohort of business and tech savvy peers, opportunities at top companies that combine business and technology, and challenging curriculum that provides a solid foundation in business and computer science concepts. Freshman applicants may apply to this program.

Texas Honors Electrical and Computer Engineering and Business (ECB)

Texas ECB is a dual degree program that provides hands-on, project-based learning within two of the most in-demand fields in today’s marketplace. Students receive a solid understanding of both business and electrical and computer engineering (ECE), while also earning bachelor’s degrees in ECE honors and business honors more quickly than studying each discipline independently. Freshman applicants may apply to this program.

School of Civic Leadership

The School of Civil Leadership offers admission only for the fall semester.

Additional Freshman and Transfer Requirements

In addition to submitting a complete application, freshman applicants must submit the following two short answer prompts if applying to the School of Civic Leadership:
