As the first step in order to graduate, students are required to submit an application to officially complete their degree. Degrees are not automatically earned even upon completion of all degree requirements. For more information, visit Undergraduate Degree Evalutions.
Each May, University Commencement recognizes graduating students from the prior summer, spring and current fall semesters. Visit the Schedule of Ceremonies for information on graduate recognition activities taking place this May.
University Commencement are ceremonial activities and participation is optional as it has no bearing on a student earning their degree. For those unable to attend ceremonies taking place in the Save Mart Center, a livestream and recording of the ceremony will be available at commencement.fresnostate.edu.
University Commencement has a zero-tolerance policy for disorderly behavior. All events are alcohol, drug, smoke, vapor and tobacco-free. Graduates and guests will not be permitted to carry alcoholic beverages into ceremony sites or consume them there. Intoxicated or disruptive individuals will not be permitted into the event, or will be escorted from the venue.
Caps and gowns are required to be worn at all times during the ceremonies. (Credential, Wayfinders and T.A.R.G.E.T students are to wear business professional attire.) Graduates are to arrive carrying their gown over their arm in order to expedite the check-in process.
Wear clothing appropriate for the weather and comfortable shoes that offer stability for walking in down the Save Mart Center ramp and during the procession.
Graduates who require accessibility accommodations are asked to contact the coordinator of their specific academic college ceremony at least a week in advance of their ceremony date.
